Thinking I should get a 'proper' job' I went down the graduate training route after studying Business & Finance, but a creative pull was always there. Friends would ask me to make gifts for them and in my spare time I ran workshops and organised open house events - which did really well!
I always knew I wanted to set up my own creative business but it wasn't till I tried my hand at letterpress that I realised what it would be. That moment when I took my first print off the press was magical and it still is. Besotted by name, besotted by nature!
Based in Devon, I have my own letterpress studio with a 130 year old Arab letterpress. The majority of my work is in wedding stationery but I also produce event and personalised stationery, correspondence cards, greetings cards and calligraphy. I work with clients all over the UK and also internationally.
If you have any questions, please get in touch.

Originally I thought that calligraphy was the business for me. I loved the process of learning the art and seeing my style evolve. I still love it and have brought it into my stationery, offering an addressing service, handwritten vows, place names and one off pieces. However, through learning calligraphy I went on a course to learn letterpress and I was besotted. So Besotted Design was created.
When a wedding photographer friend suggested I make wedding stationery, the lightbulb went on and my fate was sealed ,and I couldn't be happier.
I hope you enjoy looking through my work. This is an exciting time for you and it is important to me that my clients have stationery that is a piece of art and something very special to keep. The quality of a letterpressed invitation is unrivalled and shows you care about detail and quality.
All materials and packaging are sustainably resourced where possible. All paper and card is FSC (Forestry Stewardship Council ) certified and my polymer plates are recycled.
Letterpress is such a tactile, classic printing process. Its artisan nature means it is not the cheapest form of printing but the results are stunning and so worth the investment.

Originally, individual letters of metal type were put together to form a page of words and mounted on to the press. The rollers would pick up the ink off an ink plate and roll it over the metal type. The press, operated by a foot treadle, then pushes the paper or cardstock on to the type and an impression is made.
More recently, the type can be replaced with a polymer plate. Stationery designers create their designs using software and the plates are then produced mimicking the metal type. The plate is then mounted on to the base on the press and individual copies are then run off by hand.
I design my work in Adobe Illustrator and have my plates made off-site. I choose my card stock carefully, usually 540 or 600 gsm cotton cardstock which is luxuriously thick and produces a tactile pillowy effect once printed. My ink colours are mixed by hand to the Pantone Solid Uncoated formulas. Once the press is inked up and the plates are registered, the printing (magic) begins.
